The Point

Several years ago – maybe ten or so, I saw “The Point“. An animation about tolerance and acceptance of people who are different than the “norm”. Oblio, a small, personable boy is born with a round head in a land of pointed headed inhabitants. Being thrown out of their town, his dog Arrow is his companion as he searches to find a place where he is welcome. They find much more diversity outside his land than in, learing that he’s not different as much as the townspeople believe.

The narration of the DVD was done by Ringo Starr, however the generaly accepted or preferred narration was done by Dustin Hoffman for the first telecast. There were three telecasts all together, each with a different narrator with the Ringo only doing the narration on the home video release.

The video also features a great soundtrack that includes the hit song “Me and my Arrow”. I wish the DVD had the different narrations as special features, however, the release apparently has no additional features.

I have wanted a copy since I first saw the film so I just ordered both the DVD and the soundtrack from Amazon yesterday. They should be here the first week of Feb. 2005.
