Last night when I got home I rand in to my neighbor Jay. He is into a bunch of the same sports and interests that I am into which is cool but we’ve never done anything together yet. We talked about either flying kites or climbing in Rock Canyon. Jay and his wife were going camping at Rock Canyon camp ground and we decided that I’d head up to Rock canyon in the morning (after I had finished watching the Tour de France!!!) and that I’d give him a call on his cell when I got close. He was going to hike down from the camp ground and meet everyone at the climbing area.
I arrived with the sun starting to heat up the East facing rock faces, the West faces were still in the shadow and I gave Jay a call – no answer. I called about 1/2 hour later again to try to get a hold of him but figured he must be out of range. In fact, he was. I decieded to come home only to pull up at the same time he did.
“Sorry dude” Jay says to me…he likes to use the word “dude” but I rarely find a need myself. “I was out of range and I just got your message now…”
All’s well. I figure, the wind is supposed to pick up this afternoon and I’ll be able to get a little flying in. I called Steve Mayer at Cloud 9 Soaring Center to get an update on the kite buggy he is having designed. It will be very cool and cheaper than the current buggies out on the market right now (in the $200-$300 range vs. 500+). He says it will be at least a few weeks and maybe a month before the buggies are done.
I also stopped by Mad Dog cycles to inquire about a new fork for my moutnain bike. I actually have not ridden it for almost 4 years. Wow – time flies. It has a leaky shock that is too old to get parts for. So, I am getting a new Marzocchi MX Comp. That will also entail getting new break leavers, V-breaks, break cables, stem and headset.
