I decided to ride to Vivian again but when I got there I decided to continue up South Fork of Provo Canyon to the gate at the end. South Fork is beautiful with a stream running the entire length traveling through a few pastures and small farms and cabins. I’d love to have a cabin someday… So, with today’s ride, I pretty much double my elevation gain and add a little over 6 miles to the usual Vivian ride.
- 28.42mi
- 14.6mph ave.
- 1250ft gain
- 1h 56m 29s saddle time
I actually was not planning on riding tonight. It is the SLLUG meeting. However, when I left work about 15 minutes early to start heading up to Salt Lake for the meeting, the traffic was basically at a stand-still on I-15 from the Provo Center Street exit north. I got off there thinking that I’d be able to get around it by using Geneva Road. That too was backed up. It took me over an hour to get to my condo in Orem (7 miles from my Novell office). I then thought I could use State Street to head north instead but then I pulled onto it, it was backed up too and took me another 1/2 hour to go only 4 miles. I made some phone calls to the other SLLUG officers and let them know I was not going to make it on time so I planned on staying here in Happy Valley…what the crap is wrong with our roads?!
I made it back home and went for a much needed ride. Endorphins are in such short supply for me these days. I ride 25 miles or so and my supply is gone by the next day…
