Linus is always so strait to the point and honest. I have always liked the way he puts things. Anyways, despite the fact that Novell is pushing hard for Gnome on NLD (which I think is a perfect fit for it’s target audience), I have always been a proponent of KDE. I started using and really liking the flexibility and power of KDE while working at Caldera on the server and desktop engineering teams several years ago. Interestingly enough, many of the German engineers at Caldera now work at SuSE. I had a lot of respect for their skills then as I do now.

Saturday evening, Dec. 10, 2005. virtual0.mecworks.com, my “main” server experienced a HD failure on it’s root hard drive. The LVM array with all the data survived intact, the root drive with the OS did not. I was able to salvage most settings and configuration but it took over 12 hours to get the machine back up and running smoothly. There’s still some work that needs to be done and some missing configuration files that need to be re-crafted. It’s nice to spend a weekend in December rebuilding a server when you’d rather be out with friends at a Christmas party or something like that.

Well, I recently discovered that my blog was listed on blogshares. My account wasn’t active till now. The Mecworks blog stock is now extremely undervalued (IMO) at B$.85/share with a total valuation of B$1,951.14.
Have you ever wanted to get in on something good from the get-go? Now’s your chance! My personal feeling is that this stock is going through the roof. Of course, I’m biased… :)

Today is the 89th day of a 90 day warranty of my LG LST-3510A combination DVD/HDTV Tuner Set Top Box. It started about two or three weeks ago. The screen would all of the sudden show blue - no picture, no menus would show when trying to access them. But yesterday and today the problem went from an occasional occurrence to the permanent state. The screen only shows blue - no pictures. The sound is lovely. The picture sucks.
