LG LST-3510A DVD/HDTV tuner fixed, working good

LG LST-3510A

I mentioned in a previous article that my LG LST-3510A DVD/HDTV tuner had died and I had sent it off to get repaired. I seems that a firmware update was all that was needed (I could see no other changes listed in the materials sent back except for a hand-written label on the back of the unit saying that the unit had been refurbished and that a firmware update had been performed. The unit seems to be working well. So, LG came through on the last day of the warranty. I hope the unit lasts a bit longer this time…

With the problem that you decribed, where you see no pic. I’m having a similar problem. But this problem only occurrs when I plugin my DVI Cable. Component works fine. When using the DVI Cable, audio is fine, but the video is blank. nothing. not even the setup menu. I’m wondering if my issue can be fixed as easly as yours. Although I need to check my receipt because I’m not sure if the 90 day warranty expired yet. (i hope not) Hate to be paying for something to get fix when it wasn’t working in the 1st place. (Note, I just purhcase a DVI cable, that’s how i found out it’s not working)
What was the turn around time for them to fix it?

The turnaround time was very quick – about a week total. I think they just flashed the bios. I wish there was a way to do this at home instead of sending it in. Sounds like a similar issue, if not the same thing. Good luck.

Kane,
I initially had the same problem as you. When installing the DVI cable I got sound but no picture. The problem is that the DVI output is not selected. Look carefully at your frontpanel display, at the bottom you will see the ouput resolution (i.e. 1080i/720p/480p/…) and format (i.e. DVI/RGB/YpBr). If you don’t see DVI lit up follow these steps:
1) On the front panel of the box hit the “Display Format” button (not available on remote).
2) Keep hitting the “Display Format” button until the front panel says “DVI”.
3) Hit the “Select” button
4) Now hit “Display Format” repeatedly to select your resolution (I set it to 1080i)
5) Hit “Select” to select your resolution
6) Done.
