Bosch 4000-09 Tablesaw from www.toolking.com arrives, missing parts.

I have long searched for a table saw to compliment my shop. I’ve searched high and low to find one that is high quality and will last years. I decided to get the 10″ Worksite Table Saw with Gravity-Rise™ Wheeled Stand Model 4000-09.
UPDATE Oct. 21, 2006: Bosch sent me parts. See this story for details.
After looking at several models I feel that it’s the highest quality saw in the price range with some of the highest reviews on Amazon. So, I ordered it last week from ToolKing.com and it arrived yesterday. I was extremely busy last night and wasn’t able to start unpacking and assembly until tonight. I was surprised that the manuals and the table insert (the red plate that you can see in the picture under the clear plastic blade guard) were missing. Unfortunately I need both the manuals and the table insert to assemble and use the saw.
My projects will be on wait. Suck!
So, what do I do? Will it even be possible to get these parts without paying for them separately? I filled out the customer support forms on both www.toolking.com and www.boschtools.com but it’s Friday night and both company’s support centers operate M-F, during business hours only.
So, are they going to screw me? What’s to say that they will even be willing to get the parts to me? I signed the UPS shipment saying that the saw arrived. I believe that me signing that says that I agreed that the entire shipment arrived compete despite of the fact that I didn’t open the package and take an inventory using the parts list (which was not available since it was in the manuals which are missing).
Hopefully things will work out OK but I’m a bit of a cynic and right now I have little faith in these two big companies. Why would they help or even trust me?
If you have any advice or a similar exerience, please leave a comment and let me know.
Whoops - you should have signed the parcel as ‘not inspected upon delivery’! I’ve made that mistake before.

Yeah - probably. I’m not all that experienced in shiping. Will they actually deliver the package if you sign it that way? I mean, isn’t the thing you’re signing a contract? I just don’t know if I have any recourse at this point. I’m pretty bummed about the whole thing. I’ll be waiting to see what happens on Monday when I can contact both Toolking and Bosch. I hope one of them will work with me to get this resolved. Thanks for the comment Paul.

Very “interesting” …

the table insert is usually in the same bag as the manual, so it looks like a packaging error. was the packaging still sealed? if not it could be a toolking error.
but if bosch service in your area is anything like it is in germany, you shouldn’t have problems getting the parts. but it could be a few days.

sdf,
Yeah, the box was still sealed when it arrived so it looks like it was a packing error. I’m going to call Bosch today to see it I can get the missing part and manuals sent to me. From what I’ve head and read, they seem to be easy to work with in this type of situation. We’ll see.

Marc,
So, did ToolKing make it right?
Hope you’re well!

Thanks Kurt - I need to make a nother entry. They did - sorta. I got the plate and the manuals. However, they also sent me the hardware to mount the plate with it’s leveling screws and retension clip. The hardware is wrong. :) I’m just going to go to a local bolt store and get the stuff I need. They did come though though for the most part.

Hey it doesnt get any better with Tyler Tools!! I received a refurbed saw with the gravity fed table without any assembly or instruction manual. So much for quality assurance before they ship stuff out. I emailed them today and will follow up with a call later. Just wanted you to know there were others out there with the same issue. I cant check if I’m missing any bolts etc. until those manuals come in. The time I saved in going with them because of their faster shipping was lost in not being able to get to my project. Wish me luck!!

Hey Alex, bummer that you had a similar problem. Bosch has sent me (most of) the parts. I’m still missing a screw. Same as you, my projects have been on hold. But I’m nearing the end of the tunnel. Good luck!

Big thanks to Alex K for posting the manuals! It’s amazing that you had to go to a blog to find the manual when you can’t find it on the Bosch site!
