MS150 update and Thanks!!!

I’m always amazed by the generosity of my friends and family at this time of year. With only a week and a half, I not only raised the minimum for participation in this year’s ride but had to change my goal twice! I want to thank everyone who has contributed financially as well as those who support me in other ways each and every year for the MS150! I can’t do it without you and I really appreciate your kindness.

Here’s the original post about the ride and a direct link to my MS150 page.

  1. Marc, I also have a Haluzak. While my seat didn’t suffer the structural divergence that yours did, I did have some seat issues on the last MS 150 I rode. I’m also trying to modify my Haluzak to fit a hard shell seat. I called Rolf at the HostelShoppe and he didn’t know of anyone who had attempted this. I also called Bill Haluzak. He seemed a bit insulted that I would want to replace the original seat. Did you replace your seat with a hard shell seat or go back to the original.

    Thanks,
    Mike

  2. Hey Mike, I’ve seen a couple Haluzak Horizons with hard shell seats but I didn’t get a look at the way they had mounted them. I did replace my seat with an original but seeing as Haluzak is out of business now, I don’t know what will happen when my current seat needs to be replaced in a few years.

Part of the problem I hear, is that because of the awkward size and shape of the haluzak seats, they are not heat-treated. I’m not sure if that is true or not though. Either way, they’ve been failing and while Bill may be providing replacement seats for the near future, I’m guessing that will go away sometime as well.
