Amazon has Adobe lightroom half off today. Not sure how long it will last. Awesome deal. I used Lighroom almost exclusively for my image editing. If you’d like to see some of my work, check out my sets on Flickr.

From the ice castle at the Homestead in Midway, UT – 2004.
An old street I found while in Toledo, Spain.
The Provo River Bottoms shopping center is under construction right now while new cobble stone roads are put in place and what was once a through fair for cars will be a pedestrian only shopping area. I’m really happy about this change. It will be a much more inviting place once complete.
A few days ago, I was returning from an evening hiking at Sundance Ski Resort and stopped by to see how the construction is coming along. One cool thing is that Tucano’s restaurant has free WIFI and it’s open even when they’re closed. As I was walking around, I passed by a bench and noticed that I was in range of the WIFI signal. It also probably helped that there was hardly anyone around using the WIFI. The streets were completely abandoned as a result of most stores either closing early or completely during the construction.
As I sat down, I looked across the street at the lighted window in the Victoria’s Secret store. The lighting from the window and street light reflecting from the newly laid cobble stones created such a cool effect combined with the empty street. I snapped one picture with my iPhone and this is what I got. Conversion to B&W and post processing done in Adobe Lightroom 3.
I made two photographs on my way back from Salt Lake City last night. I was leaving a friend’s house after dropping off some items for the SLLUG meeting tomorrow night. While descending the avenues, I passed by Memory Grove near 9th Avenue where I stopped for an amazing sunset.
Here are several. The first two are the pictures I made last night and were made on my Nikon D300 camera. The first is looking out at Antelope Island to the West with my Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8 G ED lens and the second is a view of the Utah state capital and the sunset taken with my Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8 DX Fisheye. Spent an evening in downtown Provo with Michelle and some other models getting some great shots in before sunset last month. A mix of blue skies and overcast made for an interesting day with a variety of shooting conditions. Thanks to Michelle Steph and the others who made the event. I’ve posted a few images from that shoot along with this one.
My first use of the new Adobe Lightroom 3 film-grain simulation. I really like the texture and feel it gives the photo. It adds depth and character to black and white images. In the future, I’ll be taking a look at using it with cross-processed images to enhance the faded photo on film look. Stephanie is always a great model to work with.
Revisiting your photography archives, weeks, months or even years later will help you find great shots overlooked in the initial review.
A lesson we often learn in life the hard way is that contentment from everyday objects is fairly ephemeral. Things come and go, ice cream cones occasionally end up on the side walk. As we learn from one of the greatest movies ever made, The Princes Bride, we all must “Get used to appointment”. On the other hand, there are times in life when we are presented with opportunities and happiness which we should grab immediately, like when I found I had taken this picture of Matthew and Nate, taken nearly 3 years ago while browsing my photo archives.
So, we’re all over at my parents for family dinner this past Sunday night. Most of the family that lives in Utah is there with the exception of my brother Spencer who is home with a stomach flu. We’re barbecuing hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken along with all together way too much other good food to eat and…we’re all stuffed. I look outside and see one of my nieces Sara, drawing on the sidewalk with chalk and grab my camera…I can’t miss this opportunity. So that she can get low enough to the ground, Sara is sort of doing the splits.

Went with some friends: Melody, Jason and Natalie on a walking tour of downtown Salt Lake City on June 19, 2006. Very cool. Spent some time looking at old buildings but didn’t have nearly enough time to do the whole tour. We only were able to do the first third or so. Took some pictures of the buildings we visited.
A friend of mine, Melody and I went to Garden Park Ward last Tuesday. It’s a fascinating place in the neighborhood where I grew up. I used to float boats in the duck pond and walked through there on my way to and from my high school (East High).
This pic is just too funny. I don’t know who the original photographer was but I think they caught some squirrels that need to be watched very carefully…

Ok, this was first displayed in this thread on Digital Photography Review. It is a screenshot of the nikon.com web page before it was taken down.

Well, it seems that the cat is out of the bag now. These picures along with a list of specifications of the Nikon D200 were leaked yesterday on the net and posted to several photography sites around the net. Note that the specs are not official. In fact, none of this is official since Nikon has not announced anything as of yet.

UPDATE Oct. 28, 2005: Check out the new leaked D200 picures!
This past monday, Yahoo! News reported that Nikon made a quarterly profit of ¥13.94 bn ($124.8 m) or about 4 times that of the same period last year. Articles are here and here.
UPDATE Oct. 28, 2005: Check out the new leaked D200 picures!
Well, with the Photo Marketing Association Annual Show come and gone, many Nikon fans (I guess I include myself in there) were dissapointed that there wasn’t a new camera in the Canon 20D range. There were some supprizes though.
UPDATE Oct. 28, 2005: Check out the new leaked D200 picures!
Well, it’s the show I’ve been waiting for for quite some time. I’ve been waiting for Nikon to release a new mid/low end “prosumer” level DSLR camera to compete against Canon in the 20D range. The PMA or Photo Marketing Association annual show starts today in Orlando Florida. Wish I was there.
UPDATE Oct. 28, 2005: Check out the new leaked D200 picures!
With all the anxiety building around Nikon’s supposed offering that would fill the gap in their “prosumer” line between the D70 and the higher-end cameras and in doing so, counter Canon’s 20D, there has been all together too much speculation and rumor-mill work. The most often talked about possibilities include sensor size and type, ranging from 8.2 MP which would be the minimum in creating an offering comparable to the 20D, to a 12+ MP sensor. Most people are hoping for a magnesium body rather than the polycarbonate D70 version. All this talk has inspired (ha!) several people to make some touched-up photos of the new Nikon D200! Imagine that. Well, it seems that every one of these photos so far has been shown to be a fraud, albeit most are well done. continue reading…

So, I’ve been looking at digital SLR for quite some time. I currently am using an Olympus C-5050z which is a pretty nice camera to be sure but I would like to do more with lenses and filters plus get a faster lens that what I’m stuck with currently. It’s a 5 megapixle camera and I’m able to take pictures that can print fairly well. Most of what is currently in my gallery was taken with the C-5050.
