Sometimes you just can’t believe what you just did…and neither can anyone else.

Revisiting your photography archives, weeks, months or even years later will help you find great shots overlooked in the initial review.

A lesson we often learn in life the hard way is that contentment from everyday objects is fairly ephemeral. Things come and go, ice cream cones occasionally end up on the side walk. As we learn from one of the greatest movies ever made, The Princes Bride, we all must “Get used to appointment”. On the other hand, there are times in life when we are presented with opportunities and happiness which we should grab immediately, like when I found I had taken this picture of Matthew and Nate, taken nearly 3 years ago while browsing my photo archives.

So, we’re all over at my parents for family dinner this past Sunday night. Most of the family that lives in Utah is there with the exception of my brother Spencer who is home with a stomach flu. We’re barbecuing hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken along with all together way too much other good food to eat and…we’re all stuffed. I look outside and see one of my nieces Sara, drawing on the sidewalk with chalk and grab my camera…I can’t miss this opportunity.  So that she can get low enough to the ground, Sara is sort of doing the splits.

A friend brought this dish with her to a party a week ago and I liked it so much that I asked for the recipe. I changed it just slightly and made it with non-sugar sweeteners. This makes an amazingly good Thanksgiving or Christmas appetizer or party tray.
